The same net pension twice: as paid in each year, and restated in 2027 euros. The pension rose each year by the statutory adjustment, for a pension already running in 2016; one-off payments such as those of 2022 and 2023 (§§ 772a, 776 ASVG) count in the year they were paid, the taxable ones up to 2009 after wage tax. Where the dashed line sits above the 2016 purchasing power, the pension buys more today than it did then. From 2026 the price index is not yet final (provisional or forecast).

Frequently asked questions

Pensions rise on 1 January 2027 by 2.95 % up to €6,930, + €204.44 above €6,930. Since 2018 the tiers apply to the total pension income, i.e. all statutory pensions of one person together. Every year's tiers since 2002 are under Pensionsanpassung.
No, only 50 % of it, whatever month the pension began in 2026 (§ 108h (1a) ASVG). From the second adjustment the full increase applies.
For the middle pension of €2,199 gross (forecast) the net pension rises from €1,913.41 to €1,965.26, i.e. by €51.85 a month. Health insurance and wage tax are deducted from the increase, but the 2027 tax brackets are indexed to inflation. The card above computes your own pension; every pension level is in the pension gross-net table.
With the January pension. Pensions are paid in arrears on the first of the following month (§ 104 (2) ASVG), so the increased January pension arrives in early February; if the first falls on a weekend or holiday, it comes the working day before. The 13th and 14th pension equal the April and October pension and therefore include the increase as well.
Largely, over time. A middle pension from 2002 rose by 83.0 % gross up to 2027, prices by 87.9 % (forecast). The purchasing power of the net pension thus changed by − 1.1 %. Single years differed widely: the increase follows prices from August to July before it and so lags behind, and higher pensions got less than inflation in many years. The table above shows each year.
In 2024, the latest published year, the middle pension was €2,047 gross and €1,810 net a month, the average €2,321 gross. Women received a median of €1,645, men €2,571. Carried forward, the 2026 median is about €2,199 gross (forecast).
Yes, federal civil servants' Ruhebezüge rise at the same time and by the same amount as ASVG pensions (§ 41 (2) Pensionsgesetz 1965). The Pensionsgesetz sets the first increase after retirement separately, since 2026 likewise at half. The Pensionssicherungsbeitrag is also deducted from a Ruhebezug. Provincial civil servants follow provincial law.
Yes, with the reference rate up to which it tops up a low pension: €1,351.57 a month for a single person (provisional). Each year's rates are under Ausgleichszulage.
